The 26-year-old has agreed a three-year deal at Turf Moor to become manager Brian Laws’ first new signing of the summer.
Marney ended a four-year stay with the Tigers to make Burnley his third permanent club after starting his career at Tottenham Hotspur.

“It’s a good way to start and I’m delighted we’ve got Dean,” said Laws.
“Midfield is an area we wanted to strengthen and for a young age he has got a lot of experience.
“He has tasted promotion with Hull and played for two years in the Premier League so he knows what’s required.”
Laws added: “He is a box-to-box player who is full of energy and his link play with the midfield and forwards is exceptional.
“His pedigree, coming from Tottenham, shows that he can play and he will be a great addition to the squad.”
Marney made a dozen senior appearances for Tottenham, scoring twice in a Barclays Premier League win over Everton in 2005, and enjoyed loan experience at Swindon, Queens Park Rangers, Gillingham and Norwich City before becoming Hull City’s then record signing in July 2006.
The versatile midfielder went on to start more than 100 league matches for the Tigers, making almost 150 appearances in total, and helping Hull City to promotion to the top flight for the first time in the club’s history in 2008 when he weighed in with half-a-dozen goals in 41 appearances.
Marney then started 26 Barclays Premier League fixtures as City stayed up in 2008/09 and started 15 times last season in the Tigers’ relegation campaign.
The former England under-21 international will now be looking to bounce back to the top tier with Burnley.
