Hodgson talks up Zamora chances

The Fulham striker scored his 19th of the season just 21 seconds into Thursday night’s Europa League quarter-final second leg to seal a 3-1 aggregate win over Wolfsburg.

England coach Fabio Capello has so far refused to call up Zamora, with the likes of Peter Crouch and Emile Heskey being preferred in the role of target man.

Much of the talk ahead of the Wolfsburg match was about the Bundesliga club’s towering Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko, and although he hit the post late on, Zamora’s performance put the highly-rated frontman in the shade.
