With Manchester United not in action until Sunday, Carlo Ancelotti’s men can open up a four-point gap over the champions.
Birmingham v Spurs
Birmingham City’s 12-match unbeaten run came to an end with their 3-0 midweek defeat at Chelsea and manager Alex McLeish will be looking for his side to string together another strong sequence of scores.
Tottenham Hotspur have lost just one of their last five on the road as they push for a place in the Champions League.
Spurs have kept a clean sheet in six of their last seven league matches but have won only once at St Andrew’s in the past 24 years, a 2-0 success in March 2006.
Birmingham are unbeaten in their last seven home league fixtures and have kept nine clean sheets this season.
Fulham v Aston Villa
Fulham play their first home Barclays Premier League fixture of the year. They have gone 10 matches unbeaten in all competitions at Craven Cottage.
Aston Villa have not found the net in their last four league outings, picking up just two points in that run.
Fulham have lost their last four league matches and have gone five without a win.
Hull City v Wolves
Hull City will be glad to get back to the KC Stadium after four successive away matches. They had gone five unbeaten in front of their own fans before losing at home to Manchester United on 27th December.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have lost three of their last four and are out of the drop zone only on goal difference.
The Tigers have gone eight league matches without a win while Wolves have gone 400 minutes without scoring a goal in the Barclays Premier League.
Liverpool v Bolton
Liverpool have taken 11 points from a possible 15 during an unbeaten run of five matches in the Barclays Premier League.
Bolton Wanderers have lost four out of six away from home, taking just two points in that time. But they have not won a league match at Anfield since January 1954.
Liverpool have won their last six meetings with the Trotters whose midweek clean sheet against Burnley was their first in 23 league matches.
West Ham v Blackburn
West Ham United have lost just two of their last eight home league fixtures but stay out of the drop zone only on goal difference.
Blackburn Rovers are bidding for a third successive win but have picked up just two points from a possible 15 away from home.
The Lancashire club have not won at the Boleyn Ground since April 1994 and have lost 13 of their last 16 fixtures away from Ewood Park.
Wigan v Everton
Wigan have lost just one in eight in all competitions at the DW Stadium but are just two points above the relegation zone.
Everton have gone eight matches unbeaten in the Barclays Premier League to ease up to ninth place.
The Latics have won just two of the 10 meetings with the Merseysiders who have come out on top six times.
Burnley v Chelsea
Burnley are still looking for their first goal or point under new manager Brian Laws but are strong at Turf Moor where they have lost just once this season. However they have drawn their last four in front of their own fans.
Chelsea have taken two points from nine on the road but remain top of the current form table.
Burnley have gone 11 Barclays Premier League matches without a win while the Blues have won two out of seven on the road.
