Burnley host Blackburn Rovers in the east Lancashire derby, with the Clarets desperate for points as they battle against the drop.
Blackburn are all but safe from relegation after their 2-1 win over Birmingham City on Wednesday.
In the other match, Liverpool host Sunderland.
The Reds enter this match off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, while Sunderland are upwardly mobile having lost just one of their last nine matches.
Burnley v Blackburn
Brian Laws’ side are in the relegation zone, three points adrift of safety after losing 10 of their last 12 matches.
The strong home form that saw Burnley make such a good start to the season has fallen away, and they have won just one match at Turf Moor since 31st October.
Blackburn won the reverse fixture 3-2 in October, with David Dunn, Franco Di Santo and Pascal Chimbonda on target.
The teams have been in the same division just once since 1983, and the renewed rivalry would be short lived if Burnley are relegated.
Liverpool v Sunderland
Sunderland won the fixture between the two sides at the Stadium of Light earlier in the season after Darren Bent’s shot deflected off a beach ball brought to the match by a young Liverpool supporter.
That is one of the 10 Barclays Premier League defeats the Reds have suffered this season, with such setbacks destroying any hopes of a title challenge and ensuring a struggle to secure the fourth Champions League spot.
This has also been a tough season for Steve Bruce’s Sunderland, whose form has only recently picked up.
One factor for the recent rise has been the form of Fraizer Campbell who has netted three goals in his last four matches.
Liverpool will need to be on their mettle against him and 20-goal top scorer Darren Bent who has found the net five times in the last four matches.
