Chelsea have the chance to catch up with Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United with victory over bottom club Portsmouth.
The race for fourth place hots up as fifth-placed Manchester City host Everton and Aston Villa, who are in seventh, entertain Sunderland.
Meanwhile, a midtable showdown sees Blackburn Rovers take on Birmingham City at Ewood Park.
Aston Villa v Sunderland
Villa, who are five points off fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, hope to claim maximum points against Sunderland and close the gap on their rivals.
They have the only unbeaten Barclays Premier League record this year but have drawn six of their nine matches in 2010.
Sunderland have picked up in form with two wins and two draws from their last four outings with striker Darren Bent finding the back of the net on a regular basis.
But the Black Cats have lost their last three league fixtures against the Villans.
Blackburn v Birmingham
Blackburn go into this fixture against Birmingham with an excellent recent home record, having gone unbeaten in their last six home matches.
Finding the net has been a problem for Rovers as they have failed to score 12 times this season – only Wolves have a worse record in the division.
Blackburn have not lost in their last 12 top-flight home matches against Birmingham since a 2-1 defeat in September 1935.
Birmingham have won 11 of 16 fixtures against sides in the bottom half of the Barclays Premier League table.
Man City v Everton
City are the only Barclays Premier League team with an unbeaten home record this season and victory will move them into the coveted fourth place.
City are undefeated in their last six league matches and have won the last seven league fixtures where Carlos Tevez has scored.
Everton have not won any of their last three outings on the road but have won their last two visits to the City of Manchester Stadium without conceding a goal.
Portsmouth v Chelsea
Chelsea hope to get their title hunt back on track following a disappointing draw with Blackburn last time out.
They have slipped to four points below leaders Manchester United but have a match in hand on their rivals.
Pompey are stuck to the bottom of the Barclays Premier League – 12 points adrift of West Ham United who occupy the fourth-bottom place.
Portsmouth have not kept a clean sheet in any of their 12 league matches and are aiming for back-to-back wins for the first time in 17 months.
