Laurent Koscielny has revealed how Arsenal’s French contingent were helping him settle in at the Emirates Stadium. Defender Koscielny joined the Gunners this summer from Lorient and admits the Barclays Premier League is a huge step up in intensity from Ligue 1 in his native France. But the 24-year-old believes playing alongside the likes of Abou Diaby, Barcary Sagna and Samir Nasri will help him adapt more quickly. “Of course, there are many Frenchmen around the club and it’s been a great help having them around me when it comes to settling in. Everything is going well,” he said. “It’s true that the Premier League is hard physically and is more intense than the French league. So, in that respect, I’ve had a big jump in standard. Sidwell, who was made available for transfer by former manager Martin O’Neill this summer, was ruled out of the Barclays Premier League clashes with West Ham, Newcastle and Everton plus the two Europa League meetings with Rapid Vienna by the injury. He looked set to join Fulham before Roy Hodgson quit for Liverpool and was also linked with a move to West Brom before the transfer window closed last week. Sidwell cost Villa
