The Midlands men avenged Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Fratton Park with a deserved win.

Jerome fired the visitors ahead after 16 minutes. He latched on to Christian Benitez’s ball through the home rearguard before slotting the ball coolly to David James’ right.

Birmingham scored a second three minutes before the break when Benitez back-heeled to Jerome who slotted his second under the diving James.

Nwankwo Kanu set up a grandstand finish with a glancing header in the final minute but the visitors held on through four minutes of added time.

An in-depth match report will be available shorlty.
