Bentley capped an impressive performance with a goal in his side’s 2-0 win at home to Fulham on Tuesday night.

The midfielder scored with a deflected free-kick after Peter Crouch had put the White Hart Lane club ahead.

It has been a difficult season for Bentley with the former Blackburn Rovers star struggling to forge his way into Redknapp’s team.

However, with Niko Kranjcar falling ill before the match it gave Bentley a chance to impress his manager and Redknapp was pleased with the player’s attitude.

“David did well,” said Redknapp. “Kranjcar was sick so I gave him an opportunity and he took it well. If he plays well he has a chance.

“When he plays like that he has every chance, if he shows a good attitude and comes to work and plays hard.

“When you’re not in the team you’re disappointed, but he showed a great attitude.”

Bentley has made just eight appearances this season and scored on two occasions.
