The striker fired a glorious chance over the bar from close-range on Saturday as United sneaked a 1-0 win at Molineux.

my head

“Obviously I was really disappointed,” the Wales international told his club’s official website.

“I don’t think I was a good person to be about on Saturday night – the family were upset and I don’t think my missus was too happy!

“I’ve been thinking about it all weekend but am now trying to get it out of my head.

“It was great to get back in yesterday and train again just to start to get it out of my system.

“And now I’m just looking forward to the next game on Saturday.

“It’s one of those I’ve just got to put behind me and get on with the rest of the season.

“I can’t afford to dwell on it and am just looking ahead to the next ten games.”

any excuses

Vokes admitted the chance came to him quickly, but knows he should have done better with only Edwin van der sar to beat.

“I’m not going to make any excuses,” he said.

“The ball did come through a few people and came to me quite quickly and I just tried to put it in.

“It’s one of those that if it goes in you’re the hero and if it doesn’t you’re not!”
