The 20-year-old Wales international already had two years to run on his deal, but has now signed for an extra season to remain with the Barclays Premier League side.
Wolves defied expectation to retain their top-flight status at the first time of asking last season, although Vokes played a peripheral role making just five league appearances from the substitutes’ bench.
nice security
The striker’s new deal suggests, however, that manager Mick McCarthy believes he has a key role to play at the club.
“It’s a great boost to me to have an extra year to my contract,” Vokes told the club’s official website. “And the club staying in the Premier League has just added to it.
“It’s nice security for me to come back for a season and know I’ve still got three years left on my deal.”
And despite only playing in a handful of top-flight matches, Vokes is confident that his experience this season will stand him in good stead for more Barclays Premier League action next season.
“I’ve had limited time on the pitch for Wolves this year with a few substitute appearances,” he continued.
“But I had a good spell on loan at Leeds which went well for me.
“I think I’ve still got a lot more to come.
“I do a lot of work with TC before and after training and at my age it’s important to keep improving.
“Hopefully if I get a chance next season I take it because scoring goals in the Premier League is what I want to do.”
